Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac features several major improvements. It is better than its predecessors in every way. The previous versions were lacking in several aspects which this newly updated version hopes to improve.

User Friendly

The new Office for Mac offers better interface and improved features. Overall, it is more user friendly despite the fact that it’s designed for Mac. The latest edition has an all new version of OneNote and Outlook and improved versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It is integrated with all the three versions of OneDrive cloud storage that allows easy sharing. Office 2016 by default shows the files and folders saved on the cloud service. Users can even view files edited using another system. A small drawback with the 2016 Office version is that it doesn't allow users to add any other cloud storage services like DropBox, Google Drive, iCloud etc.

Sharing and Security

With Office 2016, sharing of files has become quite easy. Users can either share files using the cloud service or mail them as attachments. Office 2016 also offers restricted or limited sharing features such as a view-only option which prevents files from being edited and limits it for viewing only. Users can even send files as attachment through Outlook or other mail services as document, presentation and spreadsheet or as PDF to restrict editing.

Interface

Office 2016 for Mac is more interactive than its previous versions. It is easy to use and offers an extensive variety of functions. The ribbons and menus have been designed, keeping in mind the Yosemite interface. The command options are logically bifurcated among menus and ribbons, depending upon their use. Microsoft has tried its level best to standardize Office 2016 across all platforms by proving similar interface like ribbons, menus etc. and features. But because of some inherent limitations and differences in the platforms, some features are absent in Mac like the wizard tool that asks users what they want to do and guides them throughout the task. Also, there is no File Tab on the ribbons. This is another important feature that’s missing.

Overall though, the Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac is a great improvement. Its look and feel is designed as per Mac Yosemite.
