Microsoft has been constantly trying to develop a cross platform Office utility software. The previous versions of Office for Mac was a disaster. It lacked finesse and user-friendliness. But the 2016 Microsoft Office editions have been launched with major improvements. The package consists of improved versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote. Office 2016 new features comes integrated with OneDrive, Microsoft's cloud computing service. This enables quicker sharing of files. By default, it shows all data present on OneDrive. However, this edition doesn't allow users to add any other cloud services like iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox etc.
Microsoft Office 2016 features include enhanced security. The product prevents loss of data through advanced security details. You can share files or file URL by restricting it’s editing, making it view only. You can also send files in the PDF format as attachment, to further restrict editing.
Office 2016 for Mac is better than its predecessors in every way. Microsoft has introduced ribbons in Word and Excel which are similar to the Windows version. The commands are distributed equally between menus and ribbons. The bifurcation is done logically, that is, based on their use. Microsoft Outlook has also been majorly improved.
Mac lacks one or two features that its Windows counterpart has. It does not have the wizard tool option present on the top right hand corner that helps users by guiding them through a task. Also, the File tab on ribbons is missing.
Overall though, the new Microsoft Office 2016 Mac definitely is worth buying, not only due to the features above but for other options as well.
